The U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has termed a bomb blast that targeted an Israeli patrol in southern Lebanon as a "violation of U.N. Resolution 1701".
"This incident is a violation of U.N. Resolution 1701," UNIFIL said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.
"Such actions are in contravention of our objectives and efforts to reduce tensions and establish a stable and secure environment in southern Lebanon," it added.
Adopted by the U.N. Security Council in 2006, Resolution 1701 effectively ended a 33-day war between Israel and Lebanese group Hezbollah.
Two Israeli soldiers were slightly injured Tuesday in a bomb blast in the Shebaa Farms in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In response, the Israeli army shelled two Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, without casualties.
UNIFIL said that it has launched an investigation into the attack "to determine the facts and circumstances of the incident".
