The day after four people were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the Philippines south, the lone survivor of the incident police are calling a "summary execution" has died of her wounds.
Regine Ole Dalogdog died in hospital late Monday after being found lying in a pool of blood Sunday night with wounds that exited her chin and torso.
Police were banking on her testimony as part of an investigation into the deaths in Tacurong City - two of them women.
Supt. Junnie Buenacosa, chief of Tacurong police said that Dalogdog could hardly talk because the bullet hit her nape and exited in her chin, and was unable to write as the back wound exited through her chest.
"In due time, she will be the one who can tell the whole details, she is our main witness here,” he said, according to the Minda News on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old died in Tamondong Hospital in Tacurong.
Police have said the victims' tricycle was flagged down Sunday night by unidentified armed men, and they were ordered to lie down near a rice field before their assailants opened fire.
Buenacosa said that the four victims were dead "due to multiple gunshot wounds by the time we arrived at the site.”
He added that the fifth victim was found alive but in critical condition and immediately rushed to the hospital.
“Our investigation is still ongoing and we’re currently looking at a number of angles,” he said.
Buenacosa told Minda News that Dalogdog had said that the group were going to meet someone to buy the drug shabu - methamphetamine hydrochloride.
Police have described the killings as "summary execution." They did not elaborate.
