QAMISHLI, Syria
Four suicide bombings killed 16 people and injured 35 others Wednesday in Syria’s northeastern al-Hasakah province, local sources told Anadolu Agency.
The sources said the attacks targeted restaurants and public places in a Christian-majority district in Qamishli city.
Pro-regime Sutoro Assyrian forces imposed strict security measures in the area.
Asayish forces of the Syrian-Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) – a Syria-based affiliate of the PKK terrorist group – closed entrances of Qamishli and set a curfew in districts under PYD control as it shares control of the city with the Assad regime.
The Daesh militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
