Syrian National Council (SNC), has voted for its new leader in the plenary session meeting in Doha, Qatar's capital on Wednesday.
Voting for subcommittees and supreme board concluded and the new leader will be announced on Thursday.
SNC held a meeting after the voting ended. Qatari State Minister for foreign relations Halid bin Mohammed al-Atiye also attended the meeting.
Abdulbasid Seyda, the leader of the SNC, thanked Turkey, Egypt, Qatar and United Arab Emirates for standing by Syrian people at the meeting.
Seyda commented on the China, Russia and Iran visits of the Joint Special Representative of the UN & the League of Arab States Lakhdar Brahimi, and said that they were unsuccessful.
Saying that Brahimi could not prevent the vetoes of Russia and China in the UN General Assembly, Seyda added that "Brahimi's efforts could not stop the bloodshed".
On the other hand, meeting of the Syrian opposition will start on Thursday in Doha. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Qatar FM Hamd bin Casim, Egyptian FM Mohammed Kamel Amr, Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby and Brahimi will attend the meeting.
"Establishing Syrian interim government in exile, supplying arms for Free Syrian Army and the trial of Bashar Al-Assad and his circle" will be assessed at the meeting.
