Be careful to whom you give flowers.
A 77-year-old Thai man has been charged with sedition for handing roses and a bag of food to an activist protesting the Thai junta’s use of court martials in civilian cases and now faces seven years in jail.
Thai media reported Wednesday that Preecha Kaewbanpaew had only learned of the warrant for his arrest while trying to cross Thailand’s northern border into Laos with a bunch of old friends for sightseeing Saturday.
“I was sure I was innocent. I didn’t have any intention to cause sedition,” Khaosod reported Kaewbanpaew as saying.
