Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa met on Tuesday with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Lavrov, who arrived in Tunis on Monday, is on a two-day visit to Tunisia for talks with the North African nation's officials, a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry said.
"The visit comes within efforts to boost friendship and cooperation between the two countries," the statement added.
Lavrov is expected to meet Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki and Foreign Minister Mongi Hamdi later in the day.
