PRISTINA (AA) – The honorary guards are standing in the front of the Institute for Pathological Medicine in Pristina, watching the body of Audrius Šenavičius (34) who was killed on September 19 in Kosovo.
The statement from the EULEX office described Šenavičius as a "quite, nice and cheerful person, always ready to help others if needed.“
The head of the EULEX mission in Kosovo, Bernd Borchardt, expressed his gratitude to all people who offered their convalescence and support to EULEX.
He said that the investigation into the killing was ongoing, and asked for the patience.
"Our efforts are concentrated to bring those responsible to the justice. The investigation is ongoing. We will share any information about dthe evelopment of the investigation with the public when we are able to do so. Now, I ask for patience in order to let the police and the prosecution do their job,“ Borchard said.
Audrius Šenavičius was killed on Thursday near Zvecevo, north Kosovo, in an armed attack on EULEX cars.
He was a customary officer with EULEX who came to Kosovo for the first time in 2010.
Šenavičius leaves behind a wife and two sons.
Two other EULEX officers who were wounded during the attack remain in the hospital.
The European Union Rule of Law Mission - EULEX - is a deployment of European Union police and civilian resources to Kosovo.
The mission includes around 3,200 police and judicial personnel (1,950 international, 1,250 local), and was deployed on 16 February 2008. The EULEX mandate will expire in 2014.
