Istanbul hosts Taiwanese puppet show
A group of Taiwanese puppet artists are in Istanbul as part of the 18th International Puppet Festival.
The festival, which brings together puppet artists from Turkey, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Russia, Chile and various European countries will continue until Oct. 25.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Robin Ruizendaal, the artistic director of the Taipei-based Taiyuan Puppet Theatre Company, said that it was the eight-member group's fourth time at the Istanbul puppet festival.
Ruizendaal added that the puppet group was presenting two shows in Istanbul: A Sea of Puppet, a traditional romantic puppet show for a family audience and two short contemporary drama shows, namely "A Woman Going Home" and "I have a Name", for adults aged 14 and above.
The artistic director of the group Ruizendaal, who has been living in Taiwan for more than 20 years, writes and directs both modern and traditional Taiwanese theatre productions which were performed in over 50 countries around the world.
The puppet shows will be shown at various venues in Istanbul.

Canadian jazz singer to perform in Istanbul
Canadian jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall will take the stage at Istanbul’s Zorlu Performing Arts Center on Oct. 27.
Five-time Grammy Award winner Krall will be in Istanbul as part of the world tour following her latest album Wallflower.
The 50-year-old singer will be performing tunes from her latest album, a collection of seventies and eighties music featuring songs from the Eagles, Elton John and the Carpenters.

Istanbul to host two music masters
Grammy awarded saxophonist Joe Lovano and guitar virtuoso John Scofield will take the stage at Istanbul’s CRR Concert Hall on Oct. 25.
Also a composer, Scofield is “a masterful jazz improviser whose music generally falls somewhere between pop-bop, funk edged jazz and R&B,” according to his official website.
Joe Lovano is considered as one of the world’s best tenor saxophone players.
The duo will be accompanied by Ben Street (contrabass) and Bill Stewart (drum).

Istanbul Coffee Festival
Istanbul is set to host the second Istanbul Coffee Festival at the city's Haydarpasa Train Station on the Anatolian side between Oct. 22 and Oct. 25.
The four-day festival will also give the opportunity to the visitors to taste food samples as well as to attend workshops, panel discussions, listen to live music and watch films.
