CAIRO
Qatari Foreign Minister Khaled bin Mohamed al-Attiya arrived in Cairo in the early hours of Sunday on the first visit by a Qatari official since the ouster of elected President Mohamed Morsi.
Al-Attiya is on a several-hours visit to Egypt, sources told Anadolu Agency, citing an official notification from the Qatari Embassy in Cairo about the minister's departure hour later in the day.
There was no comment from Egyptian authorities on the purpose of the visit.
Relations between the two countries are not in their best since Qatar was one of the major supporters of the Morsi regime.
It offered Egypt, under Morsi, $4 billion in aid packages.
Egyptian authorities accuse the Qatari-owned Al-Jazeera channel of siding with Morsi and his supporters in its coverage of Egypt, an accusation denied by the channel.
