ATHENS
Turkish Airlines has been awarded the Active Greece Awards 2015 prize for being the most important carrier connecting Greece with the rest of the world.
Turkish Airlines General Manager Alp Yavuzeser said in Athens on Monday that Turkish Airlines had connected Greece to more than 260 destinations in the world with flights from Athens and Thessaloniki and would continue to make every effort to develop relations between Turkey and Greece both culturally, socially and economically.
The award was also presented at the forum of Business Excellence in the Field of Extraversion in recognition of the airlines' contribution to the development in commercial activities between the two countries and increased passenger traffic increase between Turkey and Greece.
There are currently three daily flights between Athens and Istanbul and two between Thessaloniki and Istanbul.
Yavuzeser said the frequency of flights between the two states would increase in 2015 to boost "accessibility" and economic growth.
The forum was organized under the auspices of Greece's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Rural Development, Pan-Hellenic Exporters' Association, Association of Exporters of Northern Greece, Piraeus Port Authority, Export Credit Insurance organization and with the technical support of Stat Bank.
