KABUL (AA) - Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that if it was confirmed, they could release the Turkish citizens among the foreigners Taliban took hostage in Logar province of Afghanistan.
On April 22, a helicopter owned by Khorasan Cargo Airlines made an emergency landing due to bad weather in Azra town, some 30 km away from Pakistani border, controlled by Taliban, and the passengers aboard the helicopter were taken hostage by Taliban.
Mujahid told AA on Tuesday that they were keeping the hostages in a safe region, and they were in good condition, adding that there was no need for a worry.
Noting that they liked Turkish state and people as they were Muslims, Mujahid said, "we want Turkish authorities to make contact with us so that we can understand whether there are Turkish citizens among the hostages."
Mujahid said they thought the hostages were Americans, however hostages said they were not American, so they were working on identifications.
If we become certain that there are Turks among the group, we can release them, he said.
