Afghan security forces killed at least 138 suspected Taliban militants and injured 83 others during countrywide operations in 11 provinces of Afghanistan, Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement Saturday.
According to the statement, seven suspects were also arrested, adding that the heaviest casualties were inflicted on the militant group in Ghor province.
“Afghan national police seized light and heavy weapons, seven different types of IEDs (improvised explosive devices) and 55 motorcycles,” it said.
Taliban have attacked Ghor province in central Afghanistan several times in the past one week, inflicting casualties on Afghan forces.
On Friday, a U.S. drone strike in Afghanistan`s eastern Nangarhar province killed at least 45 militants, officials said.
