Syrian state TV announced on Thursday that dozens of people were killed in a suicide attack staged by a vehicle laden with bombs in Syrian capital Damascus.
The explosion occurred near Abdullah bin Zubeyr School and minibus stations, killing and injuring tens of people including children.
People inside 17 vehicles burned to death and 40 other vehicles were destroyed in the explosion.
The TV channel noted that two buildings completely collapsed while many ambulances and fire-extinguishing teams were sent to the scene.
Witnesses said three more blasts occurred after the first one, and all roads in the district have been closed to traffic.
Russian Embassy, Hayat Hospital and Baas Party branch are near the blast scene.
111 Syrians killed on Wednesday
Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has stated that by using heavy weapons, the Syrian regime forces left 111 people dead in various cities in the country on Wednesday.
London-based SNHR said Thursday that regime forces' operations supported by using tanks, rockets, howitzer and air force, held in various Syrian cities including, capital Damascus, Deir al-Zor, Aleppo, Der'a, Hama, Rakka and Haseke, a total of 111 people were killed.
Furthermore, Syrian Revolution General Commission (SRGC) stressed that two Scud missiles were fired by Assad regime forces.
Fierce clashes between the opposition forces and the army continue.
