Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali on Wednesday said that he dissolved the government and that a "technocrat government" would be formed in Tunisia.
Speaking to the Tunisian state run TV channel, Prime Minister Jebali underlined that he dissolved the government.
"I will form a 'technocrat government' made up of individuals who are not members of political parties," Jebali stressed.
Jebali said that he took a decision to dissolve the government after political parties in the coalition could not agree on a cabinet shuff
Tunisian Parliament held a meeting to condemn Belaid's assassination.
A deputy with the Tunisian Parliament, Mahrazi al-Obeidi said that "those who assassinated Chokri Belaid, the leader of the opposition Democratic Patriots Party, on Wednesday actually assassinated Tunisia's dreams of democratization."
Women deputies at the Tunisian Parliament held a meeting to condemn Belaid's assassination.
"Belaid's assassination would benefit no political group in Tunisia. This assassination would only help those trying to cause failure for the revolution," al-Obeidi also said.
Democratic Patriots Party calls for common sense
Executives of Tunisian opposition Democratic Patriots Party also called for common sense and calm after Chokri Belaid, the Secretary General of the Democratic Patriots Party, was assassinated earlier in the day.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), an executive of the Democratic Patriots Party in the city of Safakes, Amir Mence said that they would protest Belaid's assassination in a peaceful way.
