Turkish musicians to meet for charity concert
Renowned musicians in Turkey will meet for a charity concert to support a platform, which aims to end violence of women in Turkey, on Jan. 6 at Istanbul’s garajistanbul stage.
Turkish musicians Aylin Aslim, Birsen Tezer, Cigdem Erken, Erkan Ogur, Gundogarken, Guvenc Dagustun, Husnu Arkan, Jehan Barbur and Redd will take the stage to support We Will Stop Femicide Platform.
The platform has been fighting to stop killings of women in Turkey since 2010, said the organizer.
According to the UN, one in three women around the world suffer from violence, most of the time from someone they are close to.
Almost half of the women killed each year are done so by their partner or a member of their family.
